7 Movies Coming to Cinemas This Summer
At least seven big Hollywood movies are heading to Chinese cinema screens in the next couple of months, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Even more significant – many of the major blockbusters set for May and June are set to open in China day-and-date with North America according to THR, citing an official release calendar they’ve seen.
Scoring a day-and-date release means the films are less likely to lose money to piracy and helps studios run coordinated global marketing campaigns.
No doubt Chinese film officials will be hoping that the slew of Hollywood blockbusters will give a much-needed boost to total box office earnings which have stagnated this past year.
Hollywood has already been pulling its weight this year with three major titles – xXx: Return of Xander Cage, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, and now The Fate of the Furious all earning over RMB 1 billion.
Below is the full list of the latest foreign movies for you to mark into your diary. Keep in mind that these release dates haven’t been officially announced so there’s a strong possibility they will be tweaked.
